Batonga Budima Drum Black/Brown

This drum is from Zambia. More specifically from the Valley Tonga, a valley that runs between Zimbabwe and Zambia. These drums are used for funeral ceremonies and other ceremonies. They have a goblet shape. This is a very old drum from mid 20th Century.

This drum was owned by Frank Gauden of African Artifacts, a specialist drum manufacturer in Gauteng. He was an avid collector of rare drums and beads.
